About Flip the Switch and Our Mission:
We offer vital information & consultation on Neuroscience - the Neuroscience necessary to make changes to an education environment, a workplace setting or  your home.  New and dynamic information on relational and educational neuroscience has the potential to revitalize stagnant environments or to enhance the lives of parents and children challenged to regulate behavior and sustain connection.t
Neurodiversity refers to the range of differences in the brain and nervous system leading to individual behavioral traits and their effects  on daily function. We use the term neurodivergent to refer to individuals that have ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, Auditory, and Sensory Processing Disorders or other learning challenges . Neurotypical refers to someone without these conditions.
Research is showing for those with ADHD, the brain is different. Meaning, how individuals learn and behave is also different. So conditions like ADHD and autism aren’t abnormal. They’re simply variations of the human brain.
As the research is growing, we’re learning more about how to support neurodivergent individuals. However, our current education system and many work environments do not support a strength based approach or have the tools to recognize neurodivergent behaviors in an education or work setting.
My mission is to get these best practices in the hands of people who need them.

All behavior comes from the brain and sensory system, unique to every individual. This critical understanding changes so much and explains why one-size-fits-all solutions are not optimal for educating and mentoring!

Take a moment to really let this sink in, because it’s powerful.

It’s all about teaching skills and strategies instead of trying to change the person. Because that is who they are at a brain level. And using effective strategies is something that makes a lifetime of difference.
Neurodivergent Individuals experience a higher risk for significant problems impacting well-being. For example,  those with ADHD are more likely to have health concerns, problems with addiction, and risky behavior leading to injury (ADHD Public Health Summit, 2019).

However, it doesn’t need to be this way. Neurodivergent individuals  can and do become successful with the right framework of support. We have the power to change how we think – flip the switch on our understanding to set up neurodivergent individuals for success.
This is my work – combining my background as an occupational therapist with 30 years experience, parent coach, my advanced study as a ADHD Certified Rehabilitation Services Provider (ADHD-RSP), plus my experiences as an informed mother – to create evidence-based, practical knowledge for motivated people in the lives of neurodivergent individuals. I share over 10 years of knowledge through my professional courses and coaching experiences. The idea is that by reaching more people, I can change more lives.

That’s why I provide support through professional development and speeches at industry events. I want to show you how to shift your thinking, so you can better connect and empower neurodivergent individuals.
I have seen what works and what doesn't, what teachers and professionals have been taught, and what is, sadly, missing from educational and workplace settings. My goal for my courses and for this company is to help fill that void.
